This is my very first income report. Part of me is really scared to write this post because the amount of money I earned isn’t mind-blowing or extraordinary, but I am not writing it for me. I am writing it for all of you. So I am going to proceed.I don’t know about you, but I love reading people’s income reports.
I don’t know about you, but I love reading people’s income reports. I remember many years ago telling my husband that I wanted to start a blog. Several of our friends had them and were constantly posting things. Erik asked, “Why do you want to blog? You can’t make any money doing that.” And that was the end of the conversation; I just assumed that he was right.
But it turns out that he wasn’t! It turns out that you can make money blogging!
Blogging, however, is not a get rich quick scheme. In fact, I would say that it is just the opposite. Blogging takes a lot of time, perseverance, and dedication, but you can make money, even when you first start. And that’s the message I want to get across.
So how much money did I make in my first 30 days? Drum roll please… $27.62. See, I told you it wasn’t going to be a lot! But I am still super proud of that number, especially when I look at my stats:
- Amazon Associates
- Building A Framework e-book
- Making Sense of Affiliate Marketing
- Restored 316 Designs
Unique Users: 1,374
My Income Strategy
As you can see, I had no ad revenue, no products of my own to sell, etc. My income came 100% from affiliate sales. I learned my affiliate marketing strategy from Michelle Schroeder-Gardner. Michelle blogs at Making Sense of Cents, and if you haven’t seen her income reports, you should! Michelle makes $100,000 a month blogging. No, there is no typo! $100,000 a month! And half of her monthly income routinely comes from affiliate sales. So Michelle created an online class teaching, called Making Sense of Affiliate Marketing, to teach others how to recreate what she does. It is a fantastic class and worth its weight in gold. But what is even more priceless, in my opinion, is how much Michelle wants to see her students succeed. Once you purchase the course, you become a part of her online Facebook group. Michelle is very active there and will bend over backward to help you. She’s retweeted things for me, promoted my pins, encouraged me when I felt down, and so much more. Plus, everyone else in the Facebook group rocks too and wants to help just like Michelle.
When I purchased Making Sense of Affiliate Marketing, I paid $197, and it was completely worth it.
So that’s my first income report. I will be routinely posting them so that others can reference them. Maybe one day I will have a crazy monthly income like Michelle, and people will wonder, “But how much did she make in the beginning?” And they’ll be able to look back and actually see the answer: $27.62.
How about you? Are you a blogger? What are the different ways you have monetized your blog?
