My Third Income Report

January 26, 2017 By MamaMillason 10 Comments

I love reading income reports, and this one was great! So glad I pinned this!

Wow!  It’s hard to believe that it is that time of the month again!  The time where I share my monthly income report.  My blog is now 90 days old, and it is hard to believe that too.  On the one hand, I know that my blog is a baby.  Some people have been blogging for years and years and years.  And on the other hand, it feels like I have been doing this for forever.  Maybe it’s because I work on the blog every single night once my daughter has gone to bed.  Or maybe it’s because I’ve been dreaming about blogs recently.  Who knows?  Anyhow, I thought I would share with you my blog’s growth.

But before we look at the numbers, let’s get something out of the way. Why do I post my income reports online? Is it that I like sharing super personal confidential information or that I like to brag (or perhaps in my case, have people feel sorry for me. Haha!) No, the reason is because I am trying to pay it forward.

I remember thinking for a long time, for years, that Bloggers didn’t make money. I had friends who blogged who hadn’t earned a dime. And then somehow, by some fortuitous chance, I came across one of Abby Lawson’s monthly income reports. At first, I thought, “Wow! She must be in the upper echelon of blogging,” but then as I did more and more research, I found out that she wasn’t! And I discovered something even more important– that she was a completely normal person! A sweet and lovely person, but a normal person all the same. And then something just clicked in my head, and I realized if she could do it, I could too!

So that’s why I post my monthly income reports. No matter how meager or lackluster they may be. Because if there is one thing (or really two things) I want you to take away, it’s these:
1. I am a normal person
2. If I can make money blogging, you can too.

Posting my income reports is a way of paying it forward. And now on to the numbers…

My Income Strategy

Once again, my primary source of income came from affiliate marketing.  Every time I talk about affiliate marketing, I always mention Michelle Schroeder-Gardner.  If you’ve been reading all of my income reports, I know what you are probably thinking, “Shut up already about Michelle!”  But seriously, I owe her so much because I 100% learned my affiliate marketing strategy from her.  And if you don’t know anything about Michelle, here’s the details…

She’s the creator of Making Sense of Cents, and she has developed an online course called Making Sense of Affiliate Marketing.  I have been watching for a while, mainly because she makes over $100,000 a month blogging. Whaaaatttt?!?!?! It sounds crazy, but it is true! And half of her income comes from affiliate sales (meaning that she earns a commission on the sale of certain items). And her course, Making Sense of Affiliate Marketing, is all about teaching others how to do the same.

Michelle’s course content works! I was able to earn an affiliate income within my first 30 days of blogging by implementing what she taught me. And then I made 15x times (fifteen times!!) that my second month.  And I am not the only one that her course content has helped.  I know of other people who were already earning money blogging, took Michelle’s course, and suddenly found themselves making double or even triple what they were making before. See?  She knows what she is talking about.

When I bought Making Sense of Affiliate Marketing, I paid $197. It was totally worth the money. Not only did it teach me how to earn money through affiliate marketing, but it also gave me access to Michelle. I know I’ve said it before, but I can’t get over the fact that someone as successful as she would want to help me, but she does! And she helps every single person who buys her course. She promotes my work, immediately answers my questions, and basically bends over backward to help me succeed. Plus, when I purchased her course, I also immediately got access to her closed Facebook group. It is filled with people who are just like Michelle, all willing to help each other at the drop of a hat. It is a group of folks I feel so blessed to have met!

Launching My Own Product

This month was different though because I also earned money through the sale of my own product.  Not very much money, but some.

I am so excited that I have created my own stock photo subscription service called Simply Mama Stock Photos.  We provide beautiful, feminine-styled stock photos specifically for mom bloggers and social media influencers who want beautiful feeds that match their niche.

We’ve also done a couple of things to make our photos interesting, exclusive, and accessible:

  • For starters, we are not a styled stock library where you gain access to a website and then can download photos. Rather, we send them right to your inbox!
  • Each month we produce a new packet of high resolution, social media photos. You have access to the current packet of photos until the next packet is released. It is important that you download your .zip file and save your packet, or it will be gone for forever. In other words, if you join 3 months from now, you don’t get access to the photos from the prior months. This keeps our photos exclusive, and your social media images not looking like everyone else’s.
  • We offer a variety of payment options, and you cancel at any time. So you can join, try it for a month, and see if it is right for you. We also offer 3, 6, and 12-month subscriptions that you pay upfront, and the longer the length of your subscription, the more you save. Hooray!

And so there you have it, my own stock photo service, specifically for mom bloggers. Please make sure to take a look at our website and give us a try. You can even download some free stock photos!

And now that I’ve shared my income report, I want to hear from you!  Are you a mom blogger?  Are you looking to start a blog?  If you want to blog, but haven’t yet, what’s holding you back?

Hmm, this was an interesting read for sure.. As a blogger, I definitely don’t make any money with affiliate links, well at least not yet. Thanks for sharing!

I love when bloggers start out their blogs with the gumption to make money right away. I feel like there are too many articles out there that give the message, “you won’t make any money for at least a year”. That’s a lie, if you’re really focused on monetizing your blog you will do it! I’m just over a year in with my blog and I was able to bring in a nice sum of money for only posting 1-2 times a week. You go girl!

This is so very helpful for new bloggers coming into the market that are still unsure if blogging can actually make money. I do not post income reports on my blogs, but I commend those that do. And a good way to keep track from the very beginning. Good for you. 🙂

Thank you for sharing! I’ve been working on my blog for months now, just hesitant to pull the trigger! You use Mama in your Blog name and I use Momma! (I’m wondering if Momma is even correct?!) See little things like this are holding my back. But as a mother of toddler boy/girl twins and fellow lover of Essential oils, I have so much I want to share! I’m excited to read more of your posts…Again thanks for sharing 🙂
(My blog site is still under construction but I’m going to post the website anyways 🙂

      Jillian,

You can do this! Make sure you read my other posts about blogging under the Blogging section, especially How I Went From 8,000 to 69,000 Pageviews in Less Than 30 Days. It has a lot of tips for people who are just starting out. Best wishes and keep me posted!
