I love making my own beauty and personal care products. When I first started on my all-natural DIY adventure, I heard someone say, “When you make your own products, you are saying yes to exactly what you want and no to manufacturers.” What she meant was that you suddenly have control where you didn’t before; you’re no longer stuck with whatever is sitting on the shelf. Don’t like the smell of your shampoo? You can change it and make it smell however you want. Don’t like the texture of your body scrub? You can water it down or make it thicker. You don’t have to compromise on the things that you once did.
While this is certainly true about all DIY personal and beauty care products, it makes me especially happy in regards to facial cleansers. Because I don’t know about you, but my skin is extremely finicky. It needs different things based upon the weather, the seasons, my hormones, etc., and I dislike having to run to the store every five seconds to buy a new cleanser. Now, I can just adjust what I have based upon my needs, or make a whole new cleanser in a matter of minutes for just a few pennies. It’s the best!
So are you ready to get started? Here’s a list of seven ridiculously awesome facial cleansers that you must make:
Whipped Coconut and Olive Oil Cleanser
Are you looking for a lightweight cleanser that is still super moisturizing? Then you gotta try this! It is made with just three ingredients and will cleanse your skin without stripping it of its natural oils.
DIY Cleansing Balm
If, on the other hand, you want a very rich balm-type cleanser instead, this is the recipe for you! It includes lanolin which is known for creating a barrier on the skin. So if you have sensitive skin, be sure to consider this cleanser.

Oil cleansers are all the rage now, and surprisingly, all skin types can benefit from oil cleansing, not just those with dry skin. Oil cleansing actually helps balance the skin’s oil production. So if you have oily skin, it will keep it from producing too much oil.

DIY Homemade Reusable Facial Cleansing Wipes
Some people are obsessed with cleansing wipes, and I totally get it. When my daughter was first born, she couldn’t spare to be apart from even for a minute, not even long enough for me to wash my face. So I used to hold her with one hand and use a cleansing wipe with another. These wipes are awesome though because they are reusable. So instead of ending up in a landfill, you can just use them to make an all new batch.

Activated Charcoal Face Wash
Other people love exfoliating facial cleansers, and this one couldn’t be simpler to make. It uses just three ingredients, and the activated charcoal helps to remove toxins from the skin.

Morning Glory Facial Cleanser
Yes, this recipe has a lot of ingredients to it, but what you end up getting is a gentle foaming cleanser with a low lather. So if you enjoy foaming cleansers, this one is definitely worth the time and labor.

Homemade Honey and Aloe Facial Cleanser
Last, but certainly not least, if you are looking for a simple cleanser with nothing but commonplace grocery store ingredients, then look no further. This cleanser contains honey, aloe, and olive oil. And that’s it!

A Word About Curated Posts
The above is a curated post. Some people call them round-ups, but I like the phrase “curated post” a lot better because I have spent hours putting each of these lists together. I have been a Pinterest junkie for years, and I am always looking for the newest or best or most interesting DIY project out there. Finding these items, testing them, and then using them on a daily basis is so much fun AND, I have discovered, helps save me money.
