Growing up I loved Halloween! And no, it wasn’t because of the mountains of candy (shocking, I know!). Rather, I loved Halloween because it was such a space for creativity. I remember going trick-or-treating one year as a dead hula dancer. The next year, as MC Hammer’s back up dancer (my friend Michael went as MC Hammer, so that’s why that makes sense). And every year, my mom would let me throw a Halloween party for my friends, where I got to decorate the house however I wanted. I really, really wish that I knew about all of these Halloween decorations then! Cobwebs and plastic spiders are fun, but there is just something about these minimalist decorations that is downright spooky! Maybe it’s because they are so subtle that they leave people wondering, “Is this a decoration or how their house always looks? Should I be running away for my life right now?!” Creepy, right? So without further ado, here are eight minimalist Halloween decorations that are hauntingly beautiful.
Easy DIY Witch’s Broom
This witch’s broom is super easy to make, and it’s using materials you might already have in your backyard. Minimalist? Yes. Affordable? Yes. Eco-friendly? Yes. Scary? Yes. Seriously, what more could you ask for?

Lovely Bones
This DIY involves taking apart a plastic skeleton and spray-painting it. Can I make another suggestion? I’ve seen some pretty creepy, human-looking dog bones at the pet store. Using one of those would just set this minimalist Halloween decoration over the top.

Halloween Candles
It is the overwhelming number of candles that makes this DIY really effective. Just please keep in mind that using real candles is not a good idea if children will be present or large crowds.

Halloween Mantle
This DIY is simple white pumpkins combined with black candlesticks for a both chic and spooky mantlescape. Plus, you can use the pumpkins throughout the Fall and the candlesticks year-round.

Creepy Crawlies
I hate any kind of decoration that you only use for a couple of weeks and then have to store somewhere for the rest of the year. Talk about a waste of money and space! The great news is that this DIY is not that! The suggested ink used to make the spiders washes right off. So you can have creepy crawly plates for Halloween and normal glass plates the rest of the time!

Creepy Twig Halloween Wreath
Here is another easy and inexpensive DIY project that requires minimal supplies. You just need black spray paint and twigs from your backyard. How simple is that?

Jug of Poison
I love, love this Halloween decoration because it’s so subtle. Can you imagine having a party and pouring people’s drinks from this without saying a word about the bottle at all? This would also make an awesome April Fool’s prank for future reference!
