When our daughter was born, my husband and I decided to practice baby-led weaning. If you want to know more about it, including how to do it and its benefits, then check out this blog post. But we were amazed at how much Junia loved different textures and flavors right from the very beginning. Avocados, bananas, sweet potatoes, beets, you name it.
In fact, one day over lunch, we were marveling at Junia and how there hadn’t been a single food she didn’t enjoy. We were convinced that she was going to be a foodie like her mama. And that’s when my husband had this great idea. Brilliant idea. He handed her a jalapeño off of his nachos. And she ate it.
Then, there was a long pause.
And she burst out into wailing tears. Don’t ask me why I didn’t stop him. Or why he thought it was a good idea (he’s actually a totally awesome dad, FYI, and usually doesn’t do stupid stuff like that). But the point is, he gave her the jalapeno, and boy, did we regret it. She was crying so hard that I took her to the restroom to nurse, thinking that the milk would help cool her mouth, but she couldn’t even latch on.
After a couple minutes, she was finally able to nurse and then she was fine. But my husband learned a super important lesson that day: Junia doesn’t like jalapeños.
Oh yeah, and I forgot to mention, the day he gave her the jalapeño? It was Father’s Day. Guess who felt extra bad then!
So some people are like my daughter, and they don’t like jalapeños, and that’s too bad because they are really missing out. Especially on this creamy party dip because it’s incredible.
It not only has fiery jalapeño, but fatty, salty bacon as well.
My two favorite things! They go perfectly together like peanut butter and jelly or like Simon and Garfunkel.
And what’s more, they are nestled in a smooth and creamy dip. Just look at that:

How to Make Bacon Ranch Jalapeño DipPrint
This party dip is amazing! Not only is it creamy with lots of bacon, ranch, and jalapeños, but it is also Paleo and dairy-free!
1 8 oz. package Kite Hill Almond Cream Cheese, softened
1/2 c. Forager Plain Cashew Milk Creamy Yogurt
2 slices of sugar-free, nitrate-free bacon
2 Tbsp. Paleo Ranch Seasoning Mix
1/2 red bell pepper, diced
1–2 jalapeños, diced with seeds
Siete Tortilla chips, to serve
Cook the bacon until crispy. Set aside to cool. In a bowl, combine almond cream cheese, cashew yogurt, red bell pepper, jalapeños, and ranch seasoning mix. Chop the bacon. Add to the cream cheese mixture.
Refrigerate for 2-3 hours so that the flavors meld.
Serve with raw veggies or Siete tortilla chips.
