Essential Oils
If you have ever enjoyed the scent of a fresh orange than you have experienced the aromatic qualities of essential oils. These are naturally occurring, volatile aromatic compounds that are found in seeds, bark, stems, roots, flowers, and other parts of plants. They can be beautifully and powerfully fragrant.
Essential oils are what give plants their distinctive smells, protect plants, and play a roll in plant pollination.
In addition to their intrinsic benefits to plants and being beautifully fragrant to people, essential oils have long been used for food preparation, beauty treatment, and healthcare practices.
So Essential Oils:
• Are naturally occurring, volatile aromatic compounds;
• Are found in the seeds, bark, stems, roots, flowers, and other parts of plants;
• Protect plants against environmental threats and provide beneficial properties;
• Are highly concentrated when distilled for purity, potency, and efficacy;
• Have been used historically for food preparation, beauty treatment, and health-care practices.
Every mom has experienced a 2 a.m. wakeup call from their babies or children: I know I have… a lot of them! There is nothing more stressful or overwhelming than when you watch your child suffering or struggling in the middle of the night.
With essential oils, there is always something that you can do! Aromatherapy allows a parent, grandparent, or caretaker to think proactively about the health of their child by giving natural options that can support even the tiniest member with overall wellness.
Essential Oils have been used for thousands of years. When you choose our oils, you are choosing Essential Oils carefully distilled from plants that have been patiently harvested at the perfect moment by experienced growers from around the world for ideal extract composition and efficacy.
Experienced essential oil users will immediately recognize the superior quality standard for naturally safe, purely effective Essential Oils.
- Provide health-conscious individuals with a safe and natural alternative.
- Used for a wide range of emotional and physical wellness applications.
- Have few, if any, undesirable side effects when used as directed.
- One drop is all that is needed to achieve a powerful benefit.
Our Essential Oils are also free of contaminants, pesticides, and chemical residues, which is so important as you begin using them for the children in your life.
Essential Oils are great for everyday use. You can experience the many benefits of Essential Oils by using them to support overall health.
Here are the three ways to use them:
AROMATICALLY
- Essential Oils can be safely applied for massage or topical therapy.
Their chemical structure enables them to pass through skin for an immediate systemic response. Essential Oils, when diffused or inhaled, can be very stimulating, calming, or soothing. Diffusing Essential Oils can also cleanse and purify the air.
TOPICALLY
- Essential Oils can be safely applied for massage or topical therapy.
- Their chemical structure enables them to pass through skin for an immediate systemic response.
Thirty Seconds to get into your bloodstream – thirty minutes to get through your entire body.
INTERNALLY
- Certain Essential Oils have a rich culinary history and can be used as dietary supplements for targeted wellness.
While our Essential Oils are 100% pure, natural extracts from plants, they are also very concentrated substances. For the littlest family member, it is important to use them in a safe and gentle way!!
GUIDELINES:
- Because baby’s skin is so delicate, ALWAYS dilute the Essential Oils with carrier oils (e.g.: Fractionated Coconut Oil).
- ALWAYS label rollers or containers used for baby to eliminate any confusion; try using a special colored duct tape.
- AVOID diffusing strong oils such as Cinnamon Bark, Peppermint, or Oregano in baby’s room.
- Cover baby’s feet with socks after application, so the oils don’t end up in baby’s mouth.
- NEVER use Essential Oils internally with young children.
- When using citrus oils, avoid sun exposure.
- Keep oils out of reach of small children.
- Store Essential Oils in glass bottles only, and away from sunlight and heat.
- Be cautious when using HOT oils, such as Cinnamon Bark, Oregano, Clove, Lemongrass, Coriander, Cassia, and Thyme, as they can burn the skin without proper dilution.
The gentlest way to introduce Essential Oils to your baby is aromatically. As baby inhales, the molecules of each oil go right through the back of the nostril where receptors convert the information to the nerves attached to the olfactory bulb of the brain. This provides great support for the emotional needs of your babe.
Inhalation of Essential Oils is also taken into the lungs and into the bloodstream. This provides support for the overall wellness of your baby.
TIPS
- When diffusing in the nursery or around baby, one to two drops is all you need in the water of your diffuser; if you have a waterless diffuser, dilute the oil in a carrier oil in an empty bottle to attach to the diffuser.
- When diffusing stronger oils, keep baby’s door open for airflow.
- Add one to two drops of Essential Oil to a 2 oz glass spray bottle of water to create a natural room spray
- Apply a drop of the Essential Oil to Mom’s scarf or diluted on your chest and allow baby to breathe it in as you hold and caress him.
- Mix one to two drops of Essential Oil to 2 tsp of carrier oil or goat’s milk and use 1/2 tsp of the mixture in a full sized bath tub full of warm water. Shut the door to keep the aroma in the bathroom.
Using Essential Oils in conjunction with a massage will create aromatic bonding. This is where your baby will begin to associate the aroma with times spent relaxed with their parent or grandparent. The more regular the massage, the stronger the aroma bonding.
When the child smells the same aroma out of context of the massage, they will be reminded of the massage and the emotions that went with it – comfort, reassurance, and relaxation. This can be very helpful when small children are separated from their parents.
When using Essential Oils topically with babies, use one drop in a 10ml roller bottle and fill the rest of the way with a carrier oil. If you want to make a salve or lotion, use one drop to 2 tsp of carrier oil.
Carrier Oils for Children:
- Sweet Almond Oil – emollient and nourishing effects on skin, which makes it the number one carrier oil suggested for babies and children.
- Avocado Oil – can be used in combination with 2/3 Almond Oil for dry and flaky skin.
- Coconut Oil – excellent emollient that is perfect for making lotions, creams and body rubs.
- Fractionated Coconut Oil – coconut oil from which the lauric acid has been removed, allowing it to stay in liquid form, making it perfect for roller bottle blends.
For the Whole Family:
Diluting Essential Oils in a carrier oil before application is an excellent way to reduce sensitive skin reactions to certain Essential Oils, but will it reduce the oils’ effectiveness? I used to wonder the same thing, and the answer may surprise you. Recent research suggests that diluting Essential Oils for topical applications not only does not reduce effectiveness but may actually have certain advantages.
Evaporation is the primary issue in topical application. One of the most important benefits of dilution is that it decreases the surface area of a substance exposed to air, which reduces the rate of evaporation. When diluted, Essential Oil chemical constituents have been shown to pass through the skin more efficiently than when applied neat (no dilution).
We have a special kit that comes pre-diluted for the whole family. It contains nine of the most popular oils in a base of Fractionated Coconut Oil for easy-to-use application: Lavender, Peppermint, Protective Blend (On Guard), Oregano, Soothing Blend (Deep Blue), Respiratory Blend (Breathe), Digestive Blend (DigestZen), Frankincense, and Melaleuca.
This is great if you would prefer to buy a pre-mixed roller rather than dilute the oils yourself to use with your family.
Reflexology is the application of pressure to different system zones that can support a physical change in the body.
Using Essential Oils with reflexology on baby’s feet can magnify the benefits as it brings the body into balance. Start with a gentle massage to increase the blood flow to the foot, then massage into the targeted zone. Remember to use the properly diluted amount that is safe for baby.
THE ZONES:
1 – head/teeth area
2 – sinuses
3 – solar plexus
4 – upper abdominal area
5 – lower abdominal area
6 – pelvic area
7 – spine
The solar plexus, as known as the celiac plexus, is often referred to as the center of emotions.
TIPS
- Work on reflexology during a routine massage time with your baby.
- Apply reflex points when baby is nursing or drinking her bottle.
- Reflex points can become tender when the immune system is working harder.
- Use reflexology one to two times a week.
Episodes of crying that last several hours with a healthy baby can be exhausting and discouraging. Often this is just a short stage, but living through those weeks of unknown can be very hard on a new parent. Essential Oils can be very effective tools to help calm baby—and even parents, as they care for them.
The oils that can be very calming are Lavender, Serenity, Roman Chamomile, Balance, and even Sandalwood.
Let’s talk about the calming blend essential oil, otherwise known as Serenity…
Serenity has a calming and relaxing aroma that soothes the soul, providing a safe haven from life’s daily stressors. The essential oils in this must-have blend were meticulously chosen to lessen feelings of tension, calm emotions, and leave a peaceful feeling.
Serenity is the perfect blend to diffuse at bedtime for a restful night’s sleep, to calm a restless baby or child, or to help reduce the worry and stress so many of us feel.
It combines the soothing scents of Lavender, Marjoram, Roman Chamomile, and Ylang Ylang with the warming aromas of Hawaiian Sandalwood and Vanilla Bean to create a prized essential oil blend that every home, family, and individual needs.

With thousands of years of documented use, this oil has a high value to many users. Hawaiian Sandalwood has a rich, sweet, woody aroma that instills calmness and well-being, making it a perfect oil to incorporate into massage or aromatherapy.

Teething Support
The dreaded time when gums are swollen and teeth are pushing through, making it hard for our little ones to sleep or even get comfortable—TEETHING.
Yes! There is even an oil for that!
In fact, there are several great choices of essential oils to support a baby during this insufferable time: Lavender and Roman Chamomile, for instance, as well as Serenity, which has both of these amazing oils in it.
When most people begin their journey with essential oils, they often start with Lavender. Lavender has been used and cherished for centuries for its unmistakable aroma and myriad benefits.
In ancient times, the Egyptians and Romans used Lavender for bathing, relaxation, cooking, and as a perfume; it is widely used for its calming and relaxing qualities, which continue to be Lavendar’s most notable qualities
Due to Lavender’s versatile properties, it is considered the must-have oil to have on hand at all times. The pre-mixed Lavender Touch roller is perfect to have at the changing table or in your diaper bag.

- Use one to two drops in the diffuser of your choice to promote sleep and relaxation.
- Dilute and massage on baby to soothe occasional digestive discomfort.

- Add to a whipped body butter with Melaleuca to use at the diaper changing table.
- Use with Melaleuca and a carrier oil to make natural baby wipes.

CAUTIONS
Possible skin sensitivity. Keep out of reach of children. If you are pregnant, nursing, or under a doctor’s care, consult your physician. Avoid contact with eyes, inner ears, and sensitive areas
SPECIAL NOTE: Clove, Peppermint, and the Protective Blend are often used for teeth support with older kids and adults. Since babies CAN NOT use oils internally, these oils are NOT recommended for teething support.
Tummy Support
Colic is often seen with newborns who may be needing some tummy support. When a baby is struggling with occasional upset stomach, a nursing mom can often change her diet to support healthy digestion, eliminating gaseous foods (beans, corn, dairy, gluten, spicy foods, etc.) as well as taking our Terrazyme to help absorb nutrients and break down food.
Essential Oils can be very effective supports as well. Fennel, DigestZen, and Ginger are all helpful in promoting healthy digestion.
Fennel is best known for its distinct licorice aroma and taste. Fennel may help support the health of the lungs and respiratory tract. It is also known for its ability to promote healthy metabolism, liver function, and circulation.
NURSERY USES
- Apply diluted around baby’s belly button to aid in healthy digestion. If the aroma is bothersome, blend with Wild Orange. For a more constant support, reapply three to five times a day.
- Layer the Fennel application with diluted Lavender to soothe the tummy.
- Dilute and apply with Lemon Essential Oil to reflex points on the feet to help with liver function and healthy digestion.
- Use Fennel with massage techniques to promote healthy digestion.
- Nursing moms can massage into breast tissue (avoiding the nipple) two to three times daily to increase milk supply.
CAUTIONS
Possible skin sensitivity. Keep out of reach of children. If you are pregnant, nursing, or under a doctor’s care, consult your physician. Avoid contact with eyes, inner ears, and sensitive areas.
DigestZen is a wonderful companion to aid in the digestion of food, soothe occasional upset stomachs, and reduce uncomfortable gas and bloating.
It is known as a “tummy tamer” and is a unique blend containing Ginger, Fennel, and Coriander to help ease occasional stomach discomfort, including motion sickness and indigestion, while Peppermint, Tarragon, Anise, and Caraway aid with digestion and help maintain a healthy gastrointestinal tract
The pre-mixed roller is great to have on hand at the changing table or in your diaper bag.

Essential oils that can promote healthy respiratory function are Cardamom, Breath, Lime, Douglas Fir, Frankincense, and Melaleuca.
Breathe essential oil is a remarkable blend of essential oils including Laurel Leaf, Peppermint, Eucalyptus, Melaleuca, Lemon, Ravensara, and Cardamom. Respiratory Blend maintains feelings of clear airways and easy breathing while minimizing the effects of seasonal threats.
Since Respiratory Blend contains peppermint and eucalyptus, it is not recommended to be used on the chest of children under 12 months old. Some people can also be sensitive to these particular oils, so make sure to test these oils topically on Mom several times while holding a baby and make sure that baby responds nicely to them
Feel free to also experiment with the other oils listed above as they are very effective in opening airways as well. Some babies may respond better to different oils.
The Breathe Vapor Stick and the Breathe Touch are great for on-the-go moms.
NURSERY USES
- Diffuse one drop Breathe with one drop Lime, keeping the nursery door ajar.
- Apply the Breathe Vapor Stick onto the bottom of baby’s feet and put socks on.

Renowned as one of the most prized and precious essential oils, Frankincense has extraordinary health benefits. In addition to its fame as a kingly gift in the New Testament, the Babylonians and Assyrians would burn Frankincense in religious ceremonies and the ancient Egyptians used Frankincense resin for everything from perfume to salves for soothing skin.
This centuries-old knowledge contributes to the modern uses of Frankincense today.
As the king of oils, Frankincense is known to support healthy cellular function, helps build and maintain a healthy immune system, and promotes feelings of peace and relaxation.
The pre-mixed Frankincense roller is great to have on hand at the changing table or in your diaper bag.

Breastfeeding can be one of the most rewarding and difficult times in a new mother’s life. If the baby has a difficult time latching on, or breast milk is not coming in as it should, then you need to talk to a lactation consultant.
There are oils that can help increase milk supply, and using Lavender can also help calm baby and mom when feeding time begins.
Clary Sage supports and assists the uterus as it tones after delivery. It also promotes increased lactation.
Clary Sage is a biennial or perennial herb that grows up to six feet in height. It is known for its calming properties and benefits to the skin. The main chemical component of Clary Sage is linalyl acetate, part of the esters group, making it one of the most relaxing, soothing, and balancing essential oils.
In the Middle Ages, the Clary Sage plant was frequently used to soothe skin. Inhaling Clary Sage promotes feelings of relaxation, allowing for a restful night’s sleep.
- For supporting the uterus – Apply to the abdomen, ankles, or bottoms of feet.
- For increasing milk supply – Mix two tbsp of Fractionated Coconut Oil and add 10–15 drops of Clary Sage oil. Apply a small amount of the mixture to your breasts, avoiding the nipples. Fennel and Basil also help with milk supply.
